The HWg-PWR captures data from 3 external meters on the M-Bus and connects the data to IP. M-Bus data are available over Web (graphs), SNMP, Emails or Log files. With external M-Bus (EN 13757) meters it can be used for remote monitoring/metering of Electricity power, Heat, Water or Gas consumption. There are standard 3rd party M-Bus compatible meters on the market.

HWg-PWR is reads data form external 3 M-Bus meters (EN 13757) and analyzes them. Up to 30 metered values can be shown on the WEB by graphs or monitored over SNMP.

The HWg-PWR M-Bus IP meter supports alarming through E-mail or SNMP traps whenever a defined value exceeds limit (current overload).

  • Certified Electricity power meters with M-Bus interface are used for energy metering. You can use this data for billing your customers. No current or 1 phase limits. Simply install one 63 Amperes power meter per cabinet and monitor it remotely over SNMP.

M-Bus or S0 pulse counter?

The M-Bus is a standard in energy metering. As opposed to pulse counters (S0), it works with absolute values (acquired data can be used as an argument against the utility bill). At the same time allows working with additional values (quantities), such as voltage, current, flow, drift, etc.

Electricity metering application

HWg-PWR + M-Bus electricity power meter remotely monitors an electrical network.
The user can monitor :

  • Total electricity consumption
  • Instantaneous electricity consumption
  • Instantaneous voltages at individual lines
  • Instantaneous current flowing through each line
  • Power factor (cos ?) of individual lines

An allowed range of values can be configured for currents and voltages; if the instantaneous value is lower (voltage) or higher (current), an alarm is sent by e-mail or SNMP trap to your monitoring system.

Ordering and FAQ

  • What is max number of single/triple phase lines that can be monitored with the HWg PWR meter M-Bus solution?

    HWg-PWR is limited for max 3 devices and max 30 values in total.
    For 1 phase electricity meter you need typically 4 values (V, A, kWh, Q).
    For 3 phases electricity meter you need typically 10-15 values (3xV, 3xA, 3xW, 3xQ, Total kWh)

    So typically 1x 3phases and 2x 1phase can be simply connected to one HWg-PWR meter. HW group will soon present a "HWg-PWR 25" for up to 25 Electricity meters.

  • What values can HWg-PWR monitor?
    HWg-PWR can monitor any values and quantities that are accessible over M-BUS from the respective meter (electricity meter, water meter, ...).
  • Is it necessary to use meters from you?
    Not at all. You can use any M-BUS enabled device from any manufacturer.
  • How many devices can I read simultaneously?
    M-BUS is a bus that supports up to 250 connected devices. At this time, HWg-PWR supports up to 3 devices. More devices will be supported in a later version.
  • Can I combine electricity, water and gas meters on a single bus?
    Yes. However, they must all use the same communication speed (300 b/s by default).
  • What is the maximum distance of sensors from the unit?
    At 300 Bd, a cable segment length must not exceed 1000 m (350 m at 9600 Bd).
  • Where can I find the prices of your devices?

  • What is the lead time for ordered samples?
    We are currently building up a stock of HWg-PWR units. When your order is confirmed, we inform you by e-mail about the approximate delivery date.
